American University’s Future 50 Program is lead by Anabel Jimenez Hering and her staff. Hering is no stranger to the necesities that are needed to cultivate leadership skills in young adults. Since beginning her coaching career nearly a decade ago, her leadership has helped drive American to be a perrenial Patriot League team.
Hering began her coaching career at George Mason in 2007 but quickly returned to her Alma Mater. After 5 years as an assistant coach she was promoted to head coach and has guided the Eagles to success on the field and in the classroom ever since.
As a student-athlete at American, Hering started every game in her career at AU. In 2002 and 2003, she was an All-Patriot League selection and she was named team MVP both seasons. The two-time captain and four-year starter for the Eagles (2000-2003) helped lead AU to their first-ever Patriot League Championship while earning Tournament MVP honors in 2002.
After graduating from AU, Hering played professionally for the VFL-Wolfsburg in Germany. She was also a member of the Bay Area Breeze of the Women's Premiere Soccer League in San Francisco, Calif. Additionally, she competed for the Northern Virginia Majestics, Washington Freedom, Maryland Capitols and Maryland Pride.
